Used as a symbol of authority in ancient China. Has been made by a wide range of different materials, the Palace Museum in Beijing is said to have a collection of 3,000 Ruyi made from materials like gold, silver, iron, bamboo, wood, ivory, coral, rhinoceros horn, lacquer, crystal, jade, and precious gems.
The word Ruyi means “as one wishes”, hence its symbolism with authority and prosperity. It is also used to help against gossip and useful at work to ward off political backstabbing!
